Selected Organizations
The Expanding Criminal Justice Reform Critical Policy Research team is proud to announce the selection of 15 organizations for its 2025 Criminal Justice Reform Prevention Community Regrant Initiative.

A total of 15 organizations have been selected for the Criminal Justice Reform Prevention Community Regrant Initiative, receiving technical assistance and $7,500 in funding to expand successful aspects of their criminal justice prevention programming between June and August 2025. Each organization will benefit from capacity-building opportunities, including research collaboration and increased visibility through and inclusion in an online research hub and Fall conference in Los Angeles, ultimately strengthening their criminal justice prevention efforts.
Angels Protection Inc.
Chester County, PA
Angels Protection Inc. works to advance health equity for mothers and young women between the ages of thirteen through twenty. The organization provides targeted programs and resources to system-impacted individuals and communities that support health, economic stability, education, and overall well-being.
Black Swan Academy
Washington, DC
Black Swan Academy (BSA) aims to create a pipeline of Black youth leaders who are committed to transforming themselves and their communities. BSA envisions a world where Black youth powered by their lived experiences are equipped with the tools and opportunities to be active decision makers and leaders that drive social change for the liberation of all people.
Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center, Inc. / Junior Docent Program
Philadelphia, PA
The Junior Docent Program at Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center engages general and specialized (IEP) education students and foster care youth, starting at age 14, in environmental, health, and safety awareness activities that promote their positive involvement in their local community.
Dream Catchers Academy LBC
Long Beach, CA
The Dream Catchers Academy is an established Safety Hub for community and resources, offering direct services for re-entry, such as mental health & wellness, housing, human potential development, interdiction, workforce development and job placement for system-impacted people. Outside of their facility, Dream Catchers Academy has established "Community Safety Hubs", which are safe spaces in areas where the community and traditional rival gang members acknowledge as spaces for peaceful co-existence and community building.
Georgia Building Trades Academy, Inc
Atlanta, GA
The Georgia Building Trades Academy’s YouthBuild program plays a critical role in providing justice-involved young people a pathway to success through hands-on training, industry-recognized certifications, and comprehensive support services designed to directly address the barriers participants face.
The Labor Community Strategy Center
Los Angeles, CA
The South-Central Power Up Coalition, which includes the Labor Community Strategy Center, offers free e-bike rentals to South LA residents for their first six months through a library of 250 e-bikes. This initiative in a heavily policed, transit-limited community aims to advance racial, environmental, and climate justice by providing accessible transportation and a sustainable transit model. The e-bikes enhance residents' access to jobs, groceries, and other necessities while reducing reliance on polluting vehicles.
Northwest Education Access
Tukwila, WA
Northwest Education Access (NWEdA) provides comprehensive and individualized support to help low-income young people, ages 16-29, build their own path to higher education and beyond. NWEdA’s programs focus on youth who did not successfully complete high school or did not go directly from high school to earn postsecondary degrees, also known as Opportunity Youth.
Operation Fresh Start, Inc
Madison, WI
Operation Fresh Start (OFS) empowers young adults by providing the education, mentoring, and workforce training necessary to achieve self-sufficiency and economic stability. Through hands-on learning, wraparound support, and career pathway development, OFS helps youth overcome barriers and build a successful future.
Pathway to Kinship
Los Angeles, CA
Pathway to Kinship focuses on youth ages 18 to 26 transitioning out of the juvenile justice system. Recognizing that successful reentry requires more than just employment, Pathway to Kinship supports personal transformation, skill-building, and a strong support system through targeted workforce development programs, gender-responsive substance abuse prevention and anger management programs, life skills training, and community engagement and mentorship.
Roger Williams Academy LLC
Houston, TX
Roger Williams Academy works to disrupt cycles of systemic inequity by delivering evidence-based, individualized educational and therapeutic services to neurodiverse youth and system-impacted families. They seek to redefine what prevention looks like—merging applied behavior analysis, special education, and social advocacy to build sustainable community-centered solutions.
Southern California Ceasefire Committee

Southern California Ceasefire offers a holistic, trauma-informed approach to violence intervention, workforce development, mental health support, and community empowerment. Their programs are designed to break cycles of violence, create economic opportunities, and provide critical resources for individuals who have been impacted by the justice system.
WAM Academy
Washington, DC
WAM Academy is committed to transforming the lives of system-impacted individuals and communities through education and empathy-driven learning. Recognizing that exposure to the criminal legal system often leads to lasting disruptions in education, employment, and overall well-being, their curriculum, which includes the Empathy Course developed with Providence Shelter Foundation, is designed to help young people cultivate emotional intelligence, conflict resolution skills, and pathways to academic and career success.

We Are Responsible For One Another serves as a healing, education, violence prevention, and workforce development hub for Black gang members, system-impacted people, and their communities within South LA. They organize people from the ground level to provide innovative, culturally relevant, and supportive systems that provide individuals with life-changing opportunities and contribute to shifting the culture of crime and violence caused by poverty to one of Black empowerment and prosperity.
West Philadelphia String Music & Mentorship Program
Philadelphia, PA
The West Philadelphia String Music & Mentorship Program uses the power of music education and mentorship to inspire, empower, and uplift young men and boys of color in West Philadelphia. They provide access to high-quality string instruction, performance opportunities, peacekeeping strategies, and positive role models to support students’ growth both on and off the stage.
The Wright Cause Urban Youth Conservation
Fort Worth, TX
The Wright Cause Urban Youth Conservation (TWCUYC) provides housing, life skills education, advocacy training, and community engagement opportunities to marginalized and vulnerable communities, focusing on opportunity youth. Through these initiatives, TWCUYC aims to uplift system-impacted individuals by addressing the root causes of inequality and equipping them with tools for personal and community growth.
